Walk Details » Warnings, Disclaimers and other Important Information Climbing mountains can be a risky activity and we urger all walkers to heed the warnings below. Warnings, Disclaimer
Climbing hills and mountains is a dangerous and sometimes demanding activity. Steep ground, exposed rock, and cliffs – which are a feature of many of the walks described here - bring a serious risk of injury from a slip or a fall. In addition, there are other risks; strong winds or misty conditions can develop; loose rocks can fall down to hit a person below; hypothermia can set in; underlying health conditions can be triggered by strenuous exercise. While this site highlights some particular dangers, it is not possible to list them all. Therefore, all clients are warned to take reasonable precautions before setting out. Walkers should also ensure they have sufficient physical fitness and experience before taking on any of these hill or mountain walks. In particular, it is recommended that walkers without a guide should have a proper map and compass to navigate effectively in poor visibility – and know the weather forecast. While every effort has been taken to ensure the walk profiles listed here are correct, Walk Connemara accepts no responsibility for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies - or for any loss or injury that could result. Respect for Property
Owners
Please respect the property of landowners, by closing any gates, taking care of fences and avoiding animals. While there are currently no major issues with accessing any of the walks listed here, access is at the discretion of the landowner so this could change. You should leave if requested. InsuranceWhile we have insurance, we suggest that you also take out your own. Ideally this should be a personal public liability and holiday insurance, this covers you if you fail to make the walk due to any unforeseen circumstances or indeed if you fall ill or suffer a mishap during a walk. Sometimes this may already be covered in your own health insurance. Our guided walks are insured but may not cover all your circumstances. We advise you to check what is covered by your insurance. |
